Description:

This article outlines how to configure Polycom phones depending on their firmware versions.

Web UI Method

  1. Locate the phones IP address using the following method.
    1. IP Series: Press Menu>2>2>1 on the phone.
    2. VVX Series: Press Home>Settings>4>1>1
  2. Open a web browser and type in the IP address.
    1. Select Admin
    2. Password: 8446116110 OR 456 (This is Polycoms default password)
  3. Scroll over Settings
  4. Select Provisioning Server
  5. Set Server Type to HTTP
  6. Set Server Address to q.audian.com/p
  7. Leave Server User and Server Password blank
  8. Under DHCP Menu set Boot Server to Static
  9. Click Save

Manual Method (directional pad)

  1. Factory reset the phone by following the instructions here.
  2. The phone will reboot and display a countdown from 10 on the screen.
  3. Press Setup during the countdown. 
    1. IF it is missed, Unplug the phone from power, plug it back in, and then press setup during the countdown.
  4. Type in the password 456 and press OK
  5. Press the Down Arrow Key once to get to the DHCP Menu.
  6. Enter the DHCP Menu by pressing the check mark button (In between all the arrow keys)

  7. You should be presented with the option "Boot Server". Press the Checkmark to select the boot server, then the left arrow key so that it says "Static"
  8. Press the Checkmark key again, and the screen should say "BootSrv Opt"
  9. Press the down arrow key so that the screen says BootSrv Type. Make sure it says "String".
  10. Press the Exit button once.

  11. Press the down arrow key once, and you will be presented with an option saying "Server Menu"
  12. Press the checkmark to go into the server menu, and then once again to select the option "Server Type"
  13. Press the left arrow key 3 times so that the server type says "HTTP" (Note, not HTTP(S))
  14. Press the checkmark to choose that option and move your cursor to "Server Address"
  15. Press the Checkmark to select Server Address
  16. With Server Address selected, Type in q.audian.com/p (Press * To create a .)
  17. Once your screen says q.audian.com/p, press the checkmark to save. You should then see "Server User"
  18. Press the Checkmark to select server user, the left arrow key to delete it, then the checkmark again to save.
  19. Do the same to the server Password. Checkmark, Left arrow, Checkmark.

  20. At this time, your screen should say "File TX Tries".
  21. Press the Exit key Twice, and select save and reboot.

Manual Method (Touch Screen Phone)

  1. Factory reset the phone by following the instructions here.
  2. Hit Cancel
  3. The phone will reboot and display a countdown timer on the screen.
  4. Press Setup during the countdown. 
    1. IF it is missed, Unplug the phone from power, plug it back in, and then press setup during the countdown.
  5. Type in the password 456 and press OK
  6. The screen will display the menu navigation controls.
    1. Headset Icon: Up
    2. Speaker Icon: Down
    3. Volume -: Left
    4. Volume +: Right
  7. Press Setup
  8. Press Select while Provisioning Server is highlighted (Provisioning Server is highlighted by default)
  9. Select DHCP Menu
  10. Highlight Boot Server 
  11. Press Edit
  12. Scroll Up and select Static
    1. Reference the phones controls on step 6.
  13. Press Ok
  14. Press Exit
  15. Highlight Server Type
  16. Press Edit
  17. Scroll Up and select HTTP
  18. Press Ok
  19. Highlight Server Address and press Edit
  20. Type in the server address: q.audian.com/p
    1. Notice on the screen a→1A this button toggles between numbers, letters.
      1. a→1A: Lowercase letters
      2. A→>a1: Uppercase letters
      3. 1→Aa: Numbers
        1. Tips
          1. To type the letter f you would set the phone to a→1A and press 3 x 3 times.
          2. All letters MUST be lowercase
          3. Press * to make a .
  21. Press Ok
  22. Press Edit while Server User is highlighted.
  23. Press - to delete all of the letters and leave it blank
  24. Press Ok
  25. Press Edit while Password is highlighted.
  26. Press - to delete all of the letters and leave it blank.
  27. Press Ok
  28. Press Exit
  29. Press Exit again
  30. Highlight Save and Reboot
  31. Press Select
